Main-floor radiant wave thinking 2.12.12

The house will be heated and cooled by the walls.  In the case of the main floor however, we lose a lot of exposure to walls because of the interior walls and the windows. 


The solution we hope will be a ceiling wave that helps define different ceiling heights for the functions below.


The wave is an opportunity to build a radiating structure that can use fluids to heat and cool the room.  In the example below, we show a series of 2’ x 9’ pans that are built of metal and stuffed with radiant tubes and insulation.  They will be joined together to form a new zone in the main floor.
